I remember a time when I envied people who could doodle. Perhaps as early as middle school, I saw someone making random shapes on paper and wondered; how do they do that? Doodling was a foreign language. I set out to learn how to doodle. I can safely say that, now, I know how to doodle.
In the same way I am discovering my unique creative style. When I first heard of an artist statement or saw someone with a distinctive style, I was admiring and a little befuddled. I read, took classes, prayed, wrestled, became a nurse, therapist, minister, chaplain, and supervisor while I plugged along, doodling, with art. In some mysterious way all these pieces are connected, for me and I believe for everyone.
The creative process is open to, essential to, good for, everyone.
